Bardissi Notes:

The holidays are almost upon us. If you’re going to be taking a lot of holiday family photos, don’t forget to get yourself an external hard drive to load all of your photos on. An external hard drive will act as a backup drive to store and protect all those wonderful photos, in case your computer’s hard drive goes bad. Remember, if your computer’s hard drive goes bad, it may mean the loss of all those pictures and that would be so sad. Protect your memories, get an external hard drive and start backing up!!

Did You Know?

Your computer is a powerful machine capable of many things. The problem is figuring out what it can do. I bet there are things your computer can do that you didn’t even know it could. Here is a did you know that might have you saying “I did not know that!”

THE WONDERS OF WIRELESS SHARING

Did you know that if you have a computer connected to a printer and have a wireless router installed in your home, you can print to the printer wirelessly?  That’s right! If you have a laptop and need to print to the printer, you don’t have to go and try to reach around the computer the printer is connected to and undo the cord and hook it up to your laptop.

To allow sharing, change your printer settings on the computer that the printer will be hooked up to allowing it to be shared.  This can be done by going into your printer folder and right clicking on your printer.  To get the printer to print wirelessly you need to add your printer to your wireless computer. This is done simply by adding a new printer in the printer folder and selecting add shared printer.  Remember that you can only print on this printer if it is turned on and the computer it is connected to is on as well.

You can do the same with sharing files and folders. Go into your control panel and find the sharing setting and change the settings to the folders you want to share. This allows you to use files and to easily transfer files from one computer to the other.  One neat thing you can do is attach an external hard drive to a computer and back up files to it from all the computers in your home. This is all done via folder sharing.

Keep checking out your newsletter every month for more neat things that your computer can do and how to make them happen.
